Play-by-Playcast Ep. 19 (John Sadak / Westwood One, CBS Sports, SWB RailRiders)

John Sadak wanted to be a scientist.  Instead he broadcasts NFL games on national radio.  The Westwood One announcer joins the PxPCast this week to talk about his journey in broadcasting and how he hones his craft.  Sadak not only works for Westwood One, but also for CBS Sports Network and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA-Yankees) among other outlets.  You can find him on twitter @JohnSadak.

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 18 (Eli Gold / Alabama Crimson Tide)

Eli Gold is the longtime voice of Alabama Crimson Tide football.  He's also spent time in the NHL, in Minor League Baseball with NASCAR and in a host of other broadcasting roles.  Gold talks about getting the job in Alabama, fitting in as the new voice for a school, how his voice came to be and what it's like working with Nick Saban as a broadcaster.  

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 17 (Matt Martucci / beIN Sports, St. Joe's....and a lot of other places)

Matt Martucci is one of the most well traveled broadcasters in this industry.  He's done (or still does) work for St. Joe's, Lincoln University, Fox Sports Regional, Campus Insiders, Comcast, Verizon Fios, Westwood One, Sirius/XM, WIP, The Fanatic, The Philadelphia Soul, The Atlantic City Surf, the LAX Sports Network and most recently became the lead voice for the Conference USA football package on beIN Sports.

Matt graduated in 2006 from Syracuse University, a product of WAER radio.  Some of my earliest exposure to Tooch's work was as a freshman, sitting in my dorm room at the Sheraton Hotel -- yeah, it was sweet -- listening to him call DePaul dropping 100 on the Orange.  It's okay -- Gerry McNamara led the Orange on a crazy run to the NCAA Tournament that year.

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 16 (Jon Laaser / Virginia Tech)

Jon Laaser is in his second season as voice of the Virginia Tech Hokies.  He's had a sinuous path through the broadcasting world that's taken him to 10 different states and countless minor league baseball teams and more.  Hear Laas talk all about climbing that ladder and eventually staking out his place at a Power 5 school.

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 15 (Joe Davis / Fox Sports & Los Angeles Dodgers)

Joe Davis was deemed the heir apparent to the great Vin Scully upon his hiring by the Los Angeles Dodgers a season ago.  He's one of the best young broadcasters in the industry today, working for both the Dodgers and Fox Sports.  His worked his way up through Minor League Baseball eventually landing at ESPN at just 25 years old.

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 14 (Bob Wischusen / NY Jets, Westwood One & ESPN)

Bob Wischusen has one of the busiest schedules of any broadcaster this time of year.  On Thursday he'll have an NFL radio call on Westwood One.  On Saturday he'll call college football for ESPN TV.  On Sunday he calls the radio broadcast for the NY Jets.  On the seventh day he rests?

Play-by-Playcast Ep. 13 (JB Long / LA Rams & Pac-12 Networks)

JB Long went to college at Notre Dame.  There is no broadcasting program in South Bend.  They have a student radio station but Long went to school with ideas of a career in finance.  That last...well, not very long...Long soon found himself working in local TV before climbing his way through various major networks including the B1G, MLB and PAC-12 Networks.  This summer his career took another huge step forward when he was announced as the new voice of the LA Rams.  JB was also supposed to be part of the NBC Rio Olympics coverage before the Rams job came together.

Adam Amin is back this week!  The ESPN announcer talks climbing the ranks at the mothership, his broadcast goals and dreams and how he works to balance life and work with his busy schedule.  He also talks about needing to put in dryer sheets.  All that and more on this edition of @PxPCast.

Adam Amin is one of the fastest rising play-by-play broadcasters in the business right now.  He works a full slate of college sports on the mothership and also handles MLB and NFL games on ESPN Radio.  In the first of our two-part conversation Adam discusses how his career got started in college and how he wound up at ESPN.  He also talks about his early days at ESPN and how he secured an agent in broadcasting.
