Bill Hillgrove is in an elite class of broadcasters that's the voice of a D1 FBS school and an NFL franchise.  He started as the voice of the Pitt Panthers in the 1970s an added Steelers duties in 1994.  Hillgrove talks about the challenges of broadcasting both teams and the style and way he works on the air in this edition of Play-by-PlayCast.

Bob Socci is the voice of the New England Patriots entering his 4th season.  Bob has been a longtime voice throughout Minor League Baseball (notables: Pawtucket, Norfolk, Albuquerque, Rochester) and of Navy football and basketball.  Socci joins Joel to talk about his rise through the industry, the particulars of what he does, interviewing his fairly famous head coach, and how to create the work-life balance in the sports play-by-play world.

Marc Zumoff is the longtime voice of the Philadelphia 76ers and a staple in the Philadelphia sports media landscape.  Marc is also headed to Rio next week to cover women's basketball for NBC in the 2016 Olympics.  So we've got a lot to talk about ranging from the super wonky to a Nicki Minaj reference.

Dave LaMont is a college football and basketball voice for ESPN.  He's been with the network since 2004 after a career that's also included stints working in TV with Sun Sports and thus the Miami Heat and Florida Marlins.  He's been the voice of the Miami Hurricanes and the FAU Owls, and he currently works calling games for the NASL's Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the MLL's Florida Launch.  LaMont is a national voice and a voice very familiar to those in south Florida.

Josh Maurer is the play-by-play voice of the Pawtucket Red Sox and the UMass Minutemen.  He's been a UMass almost a decade and is in his third season with the Red Sox Triple-A club.  

Josh talks all about his path up the minor leagues and college ranks but also about how he uses his voice as an instrument and the way broadcasters can keep pushing through when the going seems tough.

Ben Holden has taken a circuitous route through the broadcasting industry, starting as a 10-year-old public address sidekick and taking him now to national TV.  Today Ben does college football and basketball for the CBS Sports Network and is a well respected hockey broadcaster as well.  You might even catch Ben calling the action for arm wrestling on ESPN...yes, you read that right.

Andy Demetra graduated from Syracuse in 2002 looking to get into TV.  He wound up the play-by-play voice of the South Carolina women's basketball team.  He's now the men's basketball and baseball voice at USC.

Demetra talks about his path to, away from and back to Columbia, his broadcast prep and how he developed his voice.  The British royalty also find a way to get mentioned.
