The 101st running of the Indy 500 is just about a week away, so we figured it was a good time to learn how a racing broadcast is put together. Joel isn't particularly familiar with racing as a sport, let alone broadcasting racing, so come along on his journey to learn something new in broadcasting.  Jaynes talks weaving in and out of his turn announcers and pit reporters, calling the action of such a high speed event, calling accidents and more.

Andrew Catalon was a TV sports anchor...and then he was calling curling play-by-play.  One thing led to another and after some team handball and 3D tennis he was calling the NFL on CBS.  Catalon joins the pod this week to detail his whole path to the top level of CBS announcers.

Last week Patrick Kinas joined the Pod to discuss his background in broadcasting baseball.  Today he joins us again to talk about his quest through broadcasting swimming in the 2016 Rio Olympics, having to nail the call for Michael Phelps' final gold medal win, getting comfortable with a new sport and more.

Chris Carrino is the longtime voice of the Brooklyn Nets and one of the first broadcasters I'd ever met.  Chris dives into the inner workings of his relationship with analyst Tim Capstraw, what he learned as a young broadcaster from the great Marty Glickman and how he preps for the NCAA Tournament among other things.  He also touches on living with FSHD and his foundation to help find a cure (ChrisCarrinoFoundation.org) and I touch on the first place I ran into Chris, now the Chris Carrino and Tim Capstraw Sports Broadcasting Camp (SportsBroadcastingCamp.com).

Michael Reghi spent much of the late 1990's and early 2000's as the voice of two major sports teams...in two different cities.  The TV voice that introduced LeBron James to the NBA, Reghi also doubled as the TV voice of the Baltimore Orioles during the ending of Cal Ripken's career.  Today Reghi is the voice of the Mid-American Conference, a staple of the Cleveland media scene and a college sports voice with netowrks including ESPN and Sports Time Ohio.

Tom Werme does a lot of different things in this industry but most recently and notably he's called the last two Final Fours for Turner Sports' Team Stream.  He called the 2016 Tournament for his alma mater, Syrcuse, and for Duke in 2015.  But that's just the start of it.  Tom also does work with the ACC and Raycom Sports, the Big Ten Network, PGA Network Radio and more.
